NEXT LEVEL - DEEP TEC TRAINING

Most divers are happy with the level they reach when they first learn to dive, but for the few who want to challenge themselves, grow and develop as divers they move towards technical diving.

Technical diving teaches new procedures for extended and adventurous diving, opening new sites, depths, animals and experiences to those who can do it. All our instructors choose to teach technical diving above anything else, it is our passion, our hobby, and our living. All instructors are PADI IDC Staff instructors and have a minimum 6 years teaching experience.

Take a look through our commonly taught courses and begin your personal and diving development with East Cape Tec.

ECT TEC40

TEC40

Tec 40 - This is the beginning of the journey. The PADI Tec 40 course is where you transition from recreational to technical diving. It introduces the concepts of decompression diving in either back-mount doubles or sidemount.

Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water - Nitrox Diver with at least 10 dives using enriched air - Deep diver or experience of at least 10 dives to 30m/100’ - Minimum 18 years old & must have current dive medical.

Length: 3 days (one theory session, one dive planning session, theory exam, equipment fitting &set-up, one confined or pool session, three dives including one decompression dive).

TEC45

Tec 45 - The extension and natural leading on point from Tec 40. The course teaches you to use a single decompression gas up to pure oxygen for accelerated decompression diving, whilst extending your range to 45m/145’, the first time you are beyond recreational depth limits.

Prerequisites: Tec 40 diver - Rescue diver - Minimum of 50 logged dives of which 12 must be using enriched air deeper than 18m/60’ and 6 deeper than 30m/100’ - Minimum 18 years old & must have current dive medical.

Length: 3 days (one theory session, one dive planning session, theory exam, one confined or pool session, three dives including one decompression dive).

ECT TEC50

TEC50

Tec 50 - The third and final part of the Tec Deep program. Tec 50 will allow you to dive to 50m/165’ using up to two decompression gases. This is the first stage at which there is also no limit on the amount of decompression time that you can accumulate.

Prerequisites: Tec 45 diver - Have a minimum of 100 logged dives, with at least 20 dives on enriched air nitrox deeper than 18m/60’ and 15 dives deeper than 30m/100’ - Minimum 18 years old & must have current dive medical.

Length: 3 days (one theory session, one dive planning session, theory exam, one confined or pool session, three dives including two decompression dives).
